The Eoin MacNeill Lectures were established by the Irish Manuscripts Commission (IMC) in 2011. They provide an opportunity for an Irish audience to hear distinguished scholars from outside Ireland talk about the place of archives and primary sources in their work. The first lecture was delivered by Professor Eamon Duffy, Magdalene College, Cambridge in 2012.
IMC is delighted to announce the publication of the third Eoin MacNeill Lecture given in May 2019 by Professor Anne Gilliland, Director of the Centre of Information as Evidence, University of California, Los Angeles.
The lecture entitled ‘Sustaining identity and peace-building through community archives’ looks at the role of community archives as vehicles for demonstrating, explaining and sustaining identity and their potential to contribute to reconciliation and recovery.
