Description
The island-wide Civil Survey was carried out between 1654 and 1656 to determine and record the possessions of the proprietors of the lands and tenures and titles of their respective estates. This information was used by the Commonwealth Government to pay its officers and soldiers with allotments of Irish land in lieu of monies they were owed for fighting in Ireland for over a decade. This volume covers parishes and baronies in counties Donegal, Londonderry and Tyrone and includes an index of lands. It remains a useful resource for historians of the period as well as for genealogists.

IMC Digital Editions are now available as downloadable PDFs.
These PDFs are made from high resolution scans of the original publications which have been combined with OCRed text files so you can search within the books. For this reason, the files are very large and you should be aware that download rates will depend on your broadband connection and your computer set-up.
To read a PDF you will need PDF reading software such as Adobe Acrobat Reader or an alternative. Depending on the software running on your computer the PDF may open immediately but you will have to save it to your computer if you wish to store it.
