All four volumes of Micheline Walsh’s Spanish Knights of Irish Origin (published 1960 to 1978) have been added to our digital editions and are freely available to download.
These volumes include the genealogy of Irishmen admitted to the Spanish knighthood — the first being Daniel O’Sulivan Beare in 1607 — along with documents such as their wills, testimonials, certificates of baptism, marriage and death, and lists of sponsors. Previously scattered in archives across Spain and France these documents are now kept in the Archivo Histórico Nacional de Madrid.
