Collection Description | The Honourable Emily Lawless (17 Jul. 1845-19 Oct. 1913), writer, (novelist and historian),
gardener and natural historian, her particular interests geology, marine life and botany, on
which she wrote her first articles. The collection, which was bequeathed to the Library, with a
set of her works, by her brother, the last Lord Cloncurry, in 1929, is comprised of letters,
poems, sketches, quotations from other writers and notes (for example, the story behind Van
Dyke's portrait of the Earl of Arundel and his son, at Newstead Abbey). |
