Also contains material relating to the split with Sinn Féin and the party's evolution, the party's
involvement with anti-partitition movements in Britain and elsewhere, press cuttings on Northern
Ireland, American fundraising and the foundation of the Irish Press newspaper, party periodicals,

Description | Minute Book (Standing/General Committee), 1 November 1929-19 December 1931, typescript. The entries are short and give little detail on the discussion involved. 8 November 1929, on widows pensions, 'A letter was read from the Irish Mothers' Pensions Society to the Chairman, forwarding a resolution urging that "the maintenance of necessitous widows with dependent children should be made a national charge" and asking his support therefore. It was agreed to reply that the committee appointed by the Free State Government to inquire into the matter had not yet been reported.' The Minutes for 25 April 1930 includes the report of a letter from the Women's Prisoners Defence League, no details. The Minutes for 16 May 1930 contain an account of a question to be put by Seamus Moore asking for information regarding the amounts paid out as Home help in the years since the last Local Government Report Publication. |
