Description | Office Memorandum Book of E A Gibbon, director of Davis, Strangman and Company Ltd., Waterford brewery, relating to plant, processes, staff, debtors, loans to customers with newspaper cuttings and printed items on associated topics, 1908-1939. For example, p 73, relating to Elizabeth O'Neill, Sallypark, Ferrybank, January 24, 1908. `Elizabeth O'Neill called in today in response to a letter from the Company referring to the question of the payment of Drawback. She acknowledged that, as a result of her rheumatism, there was a verbal arrangement made between herself and her daughter-in-law with reference to the Bar, whereby the latter was to manage it and have what she could make out of it ... I told her I could not pay the Drawback unless she brought her daughter-in-law over and signed a joint receipt. She replied " I will never put my hand to any receipt with her" I told her that we would pay the person legally entitled. She said that she would see Mr Dunford and get him to write to the Company.' Includes material on customers, a number of whom were women. |
