Proclamation relating to a reward for convicting persons concerned in robbing the house of James Wogan, Castlekeely, County Kildare and assaulting him and his wife on 2 October 1746
'several persons to the number of Nine or Ten, with their Faces blackened and strewed over with Flower [sic], Broke and Entered the Dwelling-House of James Wogan of Castlekeely, in the County of Kildare, Dragged the said James and also William Wogan, Margery Wogan, Mary Wogan and Bridget Wogan, into the one Bed.' After robbing the house 'they Burnt the said James Wogan and his wife, on several Parts of their Bodies, with a Hot Spit and Candlestick, in order to Compel the said James to Discover if he had any more money.' Proclamation dated 7 November 1746.
