Council Minutes, 1862-1893; 1893-1909 and appendix A. There are references to women requesting permission to sit for degrees, for example, Mary Edith Pechey, had been granted permission by the Queen's University to present herself for the MD degree, however in 1876 she applied to Council for permission to attend classes in physics, and other course which the council denied. See Council Minutes, 11 November 1876.
