| Description | The collection includes: Notebooks and papers of Professor Richard Doherty. Documents include case notes, lecture notes, notes on general and medical topics, personal and family papers including correspondence and memorabilia and with some medical journals and pamphlets, c120 items of varied format in 8 pamphlet boxes. Miscellaneous student notes on medical matters, especially midwifery topics with other notes on literary, political and other topics, 7 volumes and 1 folder in 2 boxes. Casebooks of the Dublin Lying-in Hospital, 1838-39, maintained by Richard Dogherty (sic) as Clinical Clerk there, 3 volumes. Professor Richard Doherty's manuscript of his lectures on midwifery with references to Dr Montgomery's museum, c 200 leaves. Manuscript index of sources on midwifery topics, 24 leaves. Manuscript notes by Richard Doherty of cases in Galway Infirmary (and elsewhere?), 1846 and later; notes of the names and address of wet nurses in Galway; brief personal memoranda, 1845-1866; list of ships (given health clearance) sailing from Galway, 1858-1861, 1 volume.
