Description | 1890: 28 - Letter from Dr Firby to Croke. The pope has spoken to Dr K. about the Parnell-O'Shea divorce case and is disturbed to know that the Irish are going to allow Parnell to continue as their leader, Home Rule under such a man might be a curse, for 'As a ruler does so will everyone', the whole business is full of dangerous possibilities for the Irish people and the bishops must stand firm on moral grounds, Rome, 25 November. |
