8 - Letter from Pope Pius VI to Dr John Butler. A copy of the Pope's letter, he invites the bishop to repent and expresses amazement that anyone who had been a bishop for twenty-three years could now live in shameful concubinage with a heretical woman, promises to pray for his conversion, but also threatens to bring to bear on him the penalties of Canon Law, Rome 9 June .
