This is a significant collection of personal and literary papers of one of Ireland's most celebrated literary
partnerships, Edith Somerville (1858-1949) and Violet Martin (1862-1915), alias “Somerville and Ross,” .
The collection reflects the lives, work and interests of Somerville and Ross, and consists of diaries,
correspondence, working papers, and draft manuscripts. Some of Somerville and Ross's
correspondence and illustrations have been digitised and are available through QUB's Digital Special
Collections and Archives. A descriptive list for the collection is available (see link)

Some of the information listed from this repository has been extracted by the Women's History Project
from lists available in the library. It must be remembered that due to time constraints, not
all items in this repository were examined individually. We are grateful for the assistance
provided by Mary Kelly, librarian.
