| Collection Description | This collection of papers relates to the Parsons family (Earls of Rosse) of Birr Castle, County Offaly, and dates from the 17th-20th century. Anthony Malcomson's Calendar of the Rosse Papers was published by the Irish Manuscripts Commission in 2008. Offaly History also provides a digital copy of the Calendar on its website (see link). A selection of the papers have been microfilmed and copied by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, see MIC/512 and T/3498. |

| Description | A/5: Includes a certificate of Sir B Moyart, Justice of the King's Bench, acknowledging that Anne Parsons owed the sum of £50 to H Sacheverell of County Armagh, 1636. Acquittance from Donnell MacCahirr O'Molloy to Lady Anne Parsons for £100 in redemption of a mortgage, 1640. A letter from Robert Moore, a Confederate Colonel to Lady Anne Parsons regarding her request for the restoration of her captured coach horses and expressing his resentment and hostility towards her family, 1642. 4 letters from the Countess of Kildare to Parsons including one letter in which she requests a loan of £50, 'I must pay all my servants there[sic] wages and bye[sic] the children clothes for every day the prices of shifts grow deerer and deerer[sic]', c.1649. |
