Description | Material relating to Health Act (1953) and Bills of 1947 and 1949, includes: Letter of Most Reverend James Stauton, Bishop of Ferns, - 'I have got statement from Dr O'Rahilly of a hospital scheme for Cork, proposed by Dr Browne, which would bring all medicine, including maternity and the Professor of Gynaecology in the University under public control. He will send me a copy for each Bishop, if I wish to have it, and I think I should get these copies, and let all the Bishops know the situation, so that they should realise the general trend of the Ministry'. 'Your Eminence might like to know that there is not likely to be any trouble for the Hierarchy by reason of the New Health Bill. Mr Lemass and Mr Ryan met the Episcopal Committee last month and seem to have accepted the Committee's suggestions in regard to the White Paper'. 7 April 1952. |
