(b) For the period 1888-1924 it may be necessary to consult the Archives of Cardinal O'Donnell and Cardinal MacRory.

Letters of Cardinal Logue addressed to Most Reverend W.J. Walsh, Archbishop of Dublin, as copied by Reverend Dr Toner, includes:

4 June, 1893, Ara Coeli, 'I enclose Mr Morley's letter. Your Grace can keep it carefully for future reference. I sent him a copy of the legal opinion stating that he was to treat it as a confidential document. I added what the lawyers said to us, viva voce, regarding Industrial Schools etc. I also added that our general impression of the Bill was that it finds us in complete inequality especially in the matter of educational endowments and deprives the Irish Legislation of power to redress their grievances. Finally I said we do not want one iota which the Protestants either have not already or will not receive in the future in equal measure and proportion with us. I hope I have not said too much.'
