Letter of Most Reverend Dr McGettigan addressed to Very Reverend J. Archdeacon Tierney, V.G., Drogheda, sends contribution towards the Annual Collection for the Presentation Schools, Drogheda, 14 December 1871.

Letter of Most Reverend Dr McGettigan addressed to Very Reverend Archdeacon Tierney, V.G., Drogheda, - enquires if half note for £5.0.0 towards the collection for the Presentation Schools reached him. 'I will keep the second half till I get a line from you' ... 'The enclosed letter with adverse criticisms on the Christian Schools, Drogheda, and on the State of Education amongst the male portion of the population, came here today. I think it right to send it to you as I have got more than one communication relating to the same animadversions. You will be able to judge what foundation (if any) there is for such complaints and if any remedy could be devised to reduce the price of the school books for the poor', 17 December 1871.

Folder number 3: Sister of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, 14 October 1870, letter of Most Reverend Dr McGettigan addressed to Very Reverend Archdeacon Tierney, V.G., Drogheda - Reverend Father Powderly ceases to act as Confessor to the Community and 'that you would be good enough to undertake the responsibility of Confessor in place of Father Powderly'. His Grace grants the necessary permission for Archdeacon to act as Confessor.
