'I will keep the second half till I get a line from you' ... 'The enclosed letter with adverse criticisms on the Christian Schools, Drogheda, and on the State of Education amongst the male portion of the population, came here today. I think it right to send it to you as I have got more than one communication relating to the same animadversions. You will be able to judge what foundation (if any) there is for such complaints and if any remedy could be devised to reduce the price of the school books for the poor', 17 December 1871.

His Grace grants the necessary permission for Archdeacon to act as Confessor.
