Collection | City Arts Centre |
Collection Description | Formerly The Grapevine Arts Centre (1973-85) and known as The City Centre from 1985 until May 1992, The City Arts Centre was officially opened in 1989. It was a multi-purpose arts centre with facilities for music rehearsal and recording, theatre and two gallery spaces for the visual arts. It had a strong emphasis on community arts and aimed to involve local people and other marginalised groups in its programme. In 2001, it was decided to close the City Arts Centre for two years and begin a strategic review named 'The Civil Arts Inquiry'. The building was sold in 2003. (NIVAL.ie) |
