Collection DescriptionThe Hibernian Bible Society (HBS) (later the National Bible Society of Ireland (NBSI)), founded in 1806, was based in Bible House, 10 Upper Sackville Street, Dublin, until 1922. The archive contains material relating to the foundation and activities of the society. It consists of minute books, annual reports, financial reports and a series of lectures that were held by the NBSI called the Bedell- Boyle Lectures. There are also letters from Robert Boyle to Archbishop Narcissus Marsh on microfilm, from 1682 until 1685. [Maynooth University Special Collections and Archives]

Description

The Hibernian Bible Society archive contains material relating to the foundation and activities of the society. The earliest item is a volume of annual reports of the HBS, with the earliest in the volume being from 1806. Contains minute books, annual reports and financial reports, and documentation relating to projects undertaken by the society, among other items. The entire archive consists of 9 series and 8 files and items. It spans from 1682 to 2014
