DescriptionLA53 (1-59) Furlong's correspondents include Margaret R Scherer, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, regarding adult education lectures at the National Gallery, London [LA53/16], Constance Villiers Stuart, King's Lynn, Norfolk, seeking Furlong's advice on Irish death duties [LA53/45]; [?Marie Neil] London, regarding a painting 'Irish rebellion' [LA53/52]; also copy letter from Pamela Hinkson to Cardinal MacRory, 1941, deploring his statement that the war 'was sent by God to punish a wicked world', and that 'Ireland was spared because it was free of the sins of materialism' [LA53/49].

Also account by Furlong of the artistic scene in Dublin, praising Evie Hone [LA53/31]; text of a radio broadcast by Furlong in which he praises the part played in the Friends of the National Collection by lady members, who have promoted a broadening of the Friends' activities to include lectures and visits to private houses [LA53/32].

Furlong's diary from June-December 1940 includes references to Brenda Gogarty, Lady Fingal, Miss Southam and others [LA53/48].
