4 volumes of bound, typescript and handwritten papers relating to the Newry area, County Down, compiled by Doctor F.C. Crossle and Philip Crossle, 1911-1912.

This collection includes extracts from the local press, notes on local families and copies of wills. For example:

Volumes 13-14:
Handwritten extracts from Newry Rate Books, which list the names of tenant, their address and provide a brief description of property, the rate per £, the amount paid and the annual value, 1829-1877. These lists contain numerous female names for instance:

Rose Power's house at 46 North Street Lower, Newry was valued at £5, 1866.

Bridget Fitzpatrick's house and yard at 66 High Street was valued at £1 10 s., 1866.
