Description | Returns concerning glebes and schools, listing schools separately and noting how each school was established, the number of pupils enrolled, how schools were financed, occasionally mentioning salaries paid to male and female teachers. For example, Carnteel Girls' School was kept by Miss Bowess, a dissenting Methodist who paid the school fees and Drogheda Charity School, established in 1812, with 40 Protestant female pupils who were taught to read and work and were supplied with clothes, supported by charitable subscriptions, 1824. |
