Description | Copy of a letter from 'A voice from St. Patrick's' [Armagh] to the editor of the Armagh Guardian which states, 'Amongst all the evils with which the abuse of the crinoline is charged [is]...the inconvenience and annoyance it frequently causes in places of worship ... I think a desire to discourage the abuse of crinoline is beginning to be observed among the more refined and cultivated. Indeed we rarely find them going to extremes in matters of dress or personal ornament; and it is to be hoped that the example will be followed by all those who wish to be considered sensible, modest, unassuming girls; and not a fruitful source of annoyance to a whole congregation', 27 March 1860. |
