| Description | Diaries, Volume 3: 1802-1807 Diary entry noting, 'our little child was baptised by Father. She is called Jane after her Great Grand Mother Mrs Blennerhassett. It is thought to be a great risk calling her by that name, as there is a tradition in our family that no person of the name...was ever married. Sad prospect for our little offspring?', 21 April 1803. It is mentioned in the accompanying notes that Jane Hamilton died unmarried, no date.

The diaries were copied by his grand nephew, George Hamilton Johnston,1890. The diaries include genealogical notes on the family, 1640-c.1847 and are indexed. The diaries describe numerous society and family events. |
