Description | The collection, mainly covering the period 1917-1927, includes album with poetical inscriptions from Teresa E Galligan, Birmingham (cousin), 1917; postcard (1917) with photograph of Countess Markievicz from Una Whelan, praising Sinn Féin's 'splendid victory' in a by-election; also correspondence of Mary Brady, Honorary Secretary, Sinn Féin, Cavan on meetings, election deposits, affiliation fees and forthcoming Ard Fheis (1926); report (1921) by Countess Markievicz, Minister for Labour, on arbitration, establishment of local conciliation boards, bureau for relief of unemployment, and Belfast boycott; circular letter (1922) from Margaret Pearse, Kathleen Clarke, Catherine Callaghan, Eithne English, Mary MacSwiney deploring the signing of the Treaty and appealing to pro-Treatyites to 'join with us to avoid fratricidal strife'. |
