Collection | Papers of Judge John O'Hagan (1822-1890) |
Reference | N4/ |
Description | 26 Letter of condolence to Mrs O'Hagan, from Laurence Gillooly, CM, Bishop of Elphin, following the death of her husband. 'There was no layman whom I held in greater esteem and affection. He was for me and I believe for all who knew him, the beau ideal of a lay Catholic - humble, gentle, zealous, unswerving in principle and silently seeking and profiting by every occasion of doing good. From my first acquaintance with him, over 30 years ago, I always reckoned him amongst my warmest and sincerest friends and since then many were the services I received from him in grave matters of business', 17 November 1890. |
