Description

Two pamphlets relating to the case of Catherine Harris, Thomas Heirne and his wife, Mary, daughter of Catherine Harris [2 pages and 3 pages printed]. William, father of Mary, killed by the Earl of Clancarty in 1687, and his property lost. Catherine petitioned Queen Anne for the lease of a house and lands in Coolymorroghue and 'the old house in Cork'. Respondents Thomas Ponsonby and David Keiff alleged to have prevented Thomas and Mary Heirne from living on the property and caused damage to themselves and their stock. Respondents had advised Catherine Harris, that 'Keefe, being of an Irish name and having great Interest with the then Irish that he would stand by her and Protect her Stock and Goods, which the Appellant refused, in Regard the said Keefe was known to be already Married.'
Accusations include poisonings as well as violent behaviour, taking away Catherine Harris' reputation and bigamy.
