Description | Typescript copies of letters of the Ward and Hamilton family of Castle Ward. Includes letter of 1723 to Mrs Ward of Castle Ward from Anne Hamilton I Canterbury--'I wrote my Father several times that I very much desired to return to Ireland' and that the thought of staying in England was the cause of her illness; account of the wedding of Mrs Ward's sister, and her dress; account of Aunt Albine's false hopes of a match: she 'seemed to be mightily pleased with the thoughts of matrimony in her old days'. Proposal of the Hon. Sophia Hamilton to the Trustees for the Flaxen and Hempen Manufacturers for a school house at Bangor, County Down where flax can be spun by children of eight to fourteen years of age. A schoolmistress to be engaged at six shillings per annum for each child. |
