Notebook of Caroline Hamilton of Hamwood, County Meath, 1827-1846.
Contains verse, including 'You are old, Father William', household tips, lists of plants, seeds sown, work to be done in the garden, purchases for the garden, gardening note and observations:
'Mc Larty's advice. To keep the laurel hedge clipt in the flower garden to protect the Holyhocks -. To put spruce fir branches over the roots of any choice plant in the flower garden....to cut back the Maccartney rose to two eyes in the spring that it may be all covered with blossoms in the autumn'.
