Description | Three letters from Father Albert of the Franciscan Capuchin Friary, Church Street Dublin to Eva Gore-Booth about the imprisoned Constance Markievicz, written between 23 December, 1916 and 30 March, 1917. Fr Albert attended eight of the men who were shot at Kilmainham. He describes the call for an amnesty for the prisoners by the Corporation of Dublin early in 1917, and is pleased to hear good news of the Countess' health and spirits: 'There is a grand spirit amongst us, thank God, & though we are in the minority, we look to the future with the greatest confidence'. |
