Description | A volume containing copies of letters from Lady Clanrickarde, wife of the 10th Earl, to Dean Taylor of Clonfert, 1720-1728. Writing from Dublin, London, Utrecht, Aix la Chapelle and Enfield, Lady Clarickarde requests and acknowledges receipt of a number of loans and requests Dean Taylor's good offices in her relations with her husband: 'in your next pray send word who are the people my Lord keeps company with, and the notions the country is made to believe of my misfortunes'. Also, 'as you have been pleased to express a concern for my welfare and happiness, I think myself obliged to acquaint you where I design my retreat, and that in ten days hope to be either in Holland, or Flanders ... If you can believe me I am obliged to leave this kingdom without having my father's estate yet divided ... This disappointment, and the many misfortunes which have attended me here, has made my income straight [sic], having only my joyntor [sic] to maintain myself, Lord, and children; therefore must once more trespass on your good nature till my affairs are settled'. |
