U271/M A file on the Irish White Cross. This file includes a letter to Liam de Róiste from the secretary of the Irish White Cross, Henry Douglas, setting out the aims and objects of the Irish White Cross and giving details of the trustees and committee members, a number of whom were women. For example, the list of trustees includes Mrs Childers and Mrs Wyse Power while the Executive Committee includes Mrs Sheehy Skeffington, Madam McBride, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Kettle; on the General Committee were, among others, Madam O'Rahilly, Mrs Gavan Duffy, Mrs Kent, Alderman Mrs Clarke, Miss Mary Hayden, Mrs T.M. Kettle, 21 February 1921.

The file also includes a letter, addressed 'Dear Sir', giving details of the 'present position of the White Cross' and proposing the dissolution of its council and trustees and the transfer of the remaining funds to bodies such as the Children's Fund, the Fund for Disabled Persons, the Fund for Administrative Purposes, the Reconstruction Commission, 5 July 1924. A committee entitled 'The Irish White Cross Winding up Commission' included Madame O' Rahilly, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Ceannt, Mrs Sheey-Skeffington. The composition of this committee was decided at meeting of General Council, 21 August 1924.
