Description | Two reports, addressed to Mrs Trant, Dovea, Thurles, of bibles and other books sold by representatives of the Irish Church Colportage Mission in the area aroung Dovea, 9-21 February 1891. The reports specify whether the purchasers were Protestant or Roman Catholic; of the total of 359 books sold, 328 were bought by Catholics. Reports dated 28 January, 6 February, 8 February 1889, of missionary activity: 'I visited a house & showed a D[?ouay] Testament to the woman who was inside. She said, I have one of those, I bought it last year from a young man who passed here ... I asked her if she liked it. She said 'yes' it is a very good book. There was a girl also in the house who seemed to be in on some business. I showed her St Paul's Epistle to the Romans, St Peter's Epistles & St John in one little book & I handed the woman the book called the Sinner's Friend. They bought both the books'. |
