DescriptionA very large collection, incorporating much of the Edgeworth material in the National Library of Ireland, Dublin, including letters and papers of Maria Edgeworth. Correspondents include Sophy Ruxton and Mrs Ruxton, Mrs Harriet D Cruger of New York on relief efforts, Louisa Hope, Rachel Mordecai (afterwards Lazarus), Fanny Robinson. There is much material on literary matters, with reference to works by Maria Edgeworth and her father, Richard Lovell Edgeworth, and to contemporary authors such as Jane Austen and Walter Scott. For example:
P9026/N7020 includes correspondence and papers, 1724-1795, including letters from Maria Edgeworth and Richard Lovell Edgeworth to Mrs Ruxton, and letters between Maria Edgeworth and Sophy Ruxton on literary topics.

P9027/N7021 includes correspondence and papers, 1795-1801, including letters relating to education, science and literature, with letters between Maria Edgeworth and Sophy Ruxton on literary topics, correspondence between Maria Edgeworth and her father, and letters of Richard Lovell Edgeworth to Harriet Beaufort and others.
