A fictional account of a true experience. An Irish labourer returns to Aran after working on a London building site. The emphasis of the film is on the hardships of island life, a life dominated by the sea. The returned emigrant finds work on a trawler but other returnees have to eke out an existence farming the barren land. (Award: Certificate of Merit Award Cork International, 1970).
