Description

12 Letter from Fr Robert St Leger, SJ, Tullamore, to Fr W. Esmonde, SJ, Clongowes Wood, Clane. Refers to females singing in the choir and remarks, 'I had many scruples about the females and in the decrees and cannons of the General Congregations, I found nothing to remove them I would not write to Revd W. Aylmer, distrusting my own opinion. Your letter however of yesterday decided me and this day I told that I could not approve of female singers and decidedly disapprove of Ours joining in choir with them - I am afraid he will be very angry; but if he will get his head broken why should I risk mine too', 12 November 1832.
