Description | Administration Papers: Petition of Bridget Lawless, on behalf of her husband John Lawless, Dairyman, Poolbeg Street, 22 March 1819. 'Your Lordship, That Petitioner's husband has been confined in the Gaol of Newgate, since January last, by virtue of a warrant issued against him by the Commissioners of Excise, for the sum of £2320 sterling, being the amount of a fine levied on him for three casks of spurious tea found in his house, by two officers of Her Majesty's Revenue on the month of August last'.
