Description | Account on pages 351-389 of the lands of the nunnery of Kilkleeheen, County Kilkenny: `by an inquisition in 1540 at Kilkenny it was found that' the last Abbess of the nunnery, Catherine [Motyng?] was seized, of among lands etc., Newrath, alias Rathnown, which became vested in the king, the nunnery with its possession was granted to the Mayor, Sheriffs and Commonalty of the city of Waterford; this grant was confirmed by King James in the third year of his reign. |
