Description

Criminal Law Amendment Acts, Communications from Individuals and Bodies:
Letter to the Private Secretary, Minister for Justice, from P.S. Muireadhaigh regarding the cabinet decision of the 25 November, 1932, authorising the appointment of the Informal Committee to prepare the Heads of a Bill in relation to the Report of the Committee on the Criminal Law Amendment Acts. Enclosed is a letter, received by the President, from the Revd. R.S. Devane on the subject. Letter requests observations for a reply to the letter. The post-script of the letter considers whether the 'Bill dealing with "Public Morals" and the amendment of the Criminal Law Amendment Acts will get room this session as promised'. Author complains that 'there are four houses engaged in openly selling contraceptives - 3 in Fownes' St. alone.' Post-script also suggests that chemists and other shops are also dealing in 'these goods', 20 March 1934.
