Description

Card catalogue of debates and oral and written questions in the Northern Ireland House of Commons and Senate, arranged by subject, 1921-1972. Entries are limited for the earlier period, but are comprehensive from 1959 onwards. Subjects include, for example:

Nurses, the medical termination of pregnancy, rates of pay for specific groups of workers, nursery schools, school milk and meals, family income supplements, the Police Wives' and Mother's Association, trade unions, mental deficiency in babies, education and maintenance payments.

Card catalogue of all members who sat in Northern Ireland House of Commons and Senate, 1921-1972, those elected to the 1973 Northern Ireland Assembly, the 1975 Northern Ireland Convention, the 1982 Northern Ireland Assembly, the 1996 Northern Ireland Forum and the 1998 Northern Ireland Assembly. Each card lists the date of election, the constituency to which the member was elected, the date of resignation or death of the member where applicable and, on occasion, their place of residence. For example:

Shelagh Mary Murnaghan, Liberal Party, elected to the Northern Ireland Parliament at a Bye election for Queen's University Belfast, 24 November 1961, defeated in the North Down constituency at the General Election, 24 February 1969, she died in 1993.

Mary Nelis, Sinn Féin Party, elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly for Foyle, 25 June 1998.

Michelle O'Connor, Sinn Fein Party, elected to the Northern Ireland Forum for Upper Bann, 30 May 1996.

Eileen Emily Paisley, Democratic Unionist Party, elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly for East Belfast, 28 June 1973 and to the Northern Ireland Constitutional Convention for East Belfast, 1 May 1975.

Right Honourable Dame Dehra Parker, Unionist Party, elected to the Northern Ireland Parliament for Londonderry County and Borough, 1921, she sat until 1929 and was elected as a member for South Derry from 16 March 1933. Parker was appointed Northern Ireland Parliamentary Secretary for Education on 1 December 1937. She resigned from this post in March 1944 and was appointed Northern Ireland Minister for Health, 26 August 1949. She resigned from this position on 13 March 1957 and resigned as a Member of Parliament, 15 June 1960.
