Description | Correspondence and papers of the Greer family of Dungannon, County Tyrone, comprising of 946 documents, 1717-c1840. Some of these papers have been copied onto microfilm, see MIC/531. The Greer family were Quakers who owned a bleach green and traded with Philadelphia. The collection contains letters from, and about Quaker women, their work in America, their business involvements, arrangement of marriages, devotional letters, etc. The following are also included in this collection: Letters about the marriage of Isaac Lamb and Maria Hurst before a priest, 1793. Letters to Thomas Greer, including letters to his sister, Eliza and his wife, Elizabeth Greer Charlemont, 1724-1803. A commonplace book, which includes a copy of the petition 'of Venus to Jove' addressed to the Duchess of Rutland during her residence in Ireland, c1818. |
