DescriptionWomen's Meeting:
Epistles to and from Ireland Yearly Meeting, 1836-1852.

Formulaic epistles with opening address to the Women's Meeting, answers to the queries constructed by the Men's Meeting, which include encouragement to the women friends in their work in the community to assist the poor, widowed, orphaned, etc., an expression of dismay at the condition of the church, comment on the behaviour of some of the families in the community.

2 May 1836 'We wish to turn the attention of the Friends to young persons who are placed, as assistants in shops and families-they are often sent from their near ? at a tender age. How important then that those to whom they look for example, should walk blameless and be convinced to extend towards them a parental care'.

Each paragraph in the epistle appears to be an answer to individual queries put to them by the Men's Monthly Meeting, though not clearly stated. Volume also contains transcripts of epistles from New York, London, Wayne County Indiana, North America, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Ohio, etc. The epistles from America discuss the communities work among the native population, 1 volume
