| Description | The papers of the Foster and Massereene families comprise of c26,000 documents, 1590-1935. Included in this collection are numerous rent ledgers and rent rolls for the family estates and a considerable amount of family correspondence, for example: Letters from John Foster's only daughter, Anna Lady Dufferin, dealing mainly with horticulture and social events, 1805-1930. Correspondence of Anne, wife of the 1st Earl of Massereene relating to her own property in Derbyshire, Masereene estates, to finances, local politics in the borough of Antrim and her eldest son's career, 1755- 1800. Correspondence of Lady Harriet, 4th Countess of Masereene, includes many letters from her husband and letters from friends and members of her own family, 1770s-1831. |
