The McFarland papers consist of c.2,000 documents and c.70 volumes. The collection includes:
The records of Londonderry War Hospital Supplies Depot of which Sir Basil McFarland was chairman and Lady McFarland a committee member, 1939-1946.

Files of correspondence relating to Londonderry Branch of the Saint John Ambulance Association of which Sir Basil McFarland was chairman and Lady McFarland a serving sister, 1951-1968.

Lady McFarland's correspondence with the Commander of Ards Saint John Ambulance Association, 1966- 1967.

2 files of correspondence relating to the British Empire Campaign for Cancer Research of which the McFarlands were Northern Ireland Area Patrons, 1957-1970.

File of correspondence between Lady McFarland and the British Legion as she was Vice-President of the British Legion, Women's Section, Londonderry Branch, relating to subscriptions and notices of meetings. 1958-1963.

A letter from J.W. Lyle, Brussels to his mother in which he describes his brothers and his own participation in the Battle of Waterloo, 19 June 1915.
