DescriptionThe papers of the Young family of Londonderry and Liverpool consist of c300 documents, 1718-1875. The papers relate mainly to the holding inherited by Mrs Elizabeth Young from her father. Some family correspondence is also included, for example:
A letter from Elizabeth Gordon to her son regarding family news, 1774.

A letter from James Law to his sister, Mrs Hunter in Londonderry, informing her that he cannot get her nephew sent as a cadet to India but that he has found him a position as a clerk, 1801.

A letter from Claude Chrisy, Londonderry, to Miss Young, Londonderry, seeking repayment of a debt due to him from her late brother and stating that not to repay him would dishonour her brother's memory, 1831.

Letters from William Leatham, Londonderry, acting as Miss Young's agent, 1839-c1850s.

A letter from Eliza Young, Maghull near Liverpool, requesting advice on a letter she received from Leatham, her agent in Londonderry concerning the expiry of a tenant's lease, 1848.

Letters from Maria Docker, London and Ormskirk, to her sister, Eliza Young in Maghull, regarding family and business news, 1849; 1851; 1852. In one letter Maria Docker complains of a 'drunken man and his vulgar wife' putting pressure on her for money, 3 September 1851.

Letters from Robert Bond, agent, Londonderry, to Mrs Anne McClune (nee Young), regarding Young estate affairs, 1858-1873.
