Description | 9 handwritten factory inspection reports of John Geary, Belfast, including numerous references to women workers employed in laundries, flax spinning and weaving factories in Belfast, 1912. For instance his report on Springfield Road flax spinning factory, notes, 'For some time past numerous minor accidents have occurred to woman workers in this factory and it has been hinted that the machinery is not properly fenced...According to the managers account, the accidents were due to disobedience of the part of the women workers cleaning the machinery while it was working', 15 January 1912. |
