The Annual Reports include lists of office bearers, committee members and prison visitors, the names of those subscribing to the home and the number of inmates received, their occupation, the number of women for whom situations were found and who were sent home, sent to penitentiaries or to hospitals or who left the home of their own accord. An age range for inmates is also provided in the annual reports for 1913 and 1915. The annual report for 1913 includes a statement on the object of the home: 'to rescue and reclaim young girls from a criminal career, and those in danger of becoming criminals. ...by providing honest employment, ...and by bringing them into touch with their Catholic friends and relatives. A great proportion of these girls come from the country and adjoining counties, and were it not for the friendly shelter and refuge for the Home, would be left homeless and penniless, with danger, particularly to their faith'. |
