Provincial Female Bounty Fund, 1775-1882.

The Munster Female Bounty Fund was set up by Isaac and Susannah Jacob in 1775. The Bounty was entitled 'The Provincial Bounty or a Plan for the encouragement of female servants in Friends' families within the Province of Munster'.
The object of the Female Bounty is set out in this volume 'Whereas several of the People called Quakers in the Province of Munster, from a desire to promote industry in young people, and to induce the Daughters of Friends, in low circumstances to go out in service, have (in order to their future promotion in life and to encourage them to behave well) subscribed a sum a money: the interest or income whereof is to be applied to the use of this institution agreeable to the following rules'.

The rules listed outline the procedure for the appointment of trustees to the Fund, the committee responsible for the transaction of business, the details of the grant of thirty pounds to female servants on marriage, etc. The remainder of the volume contains the minutes of the meetings of the subscribers to the Female Bounty Fund, detailing the grants made to female servants after their marriage, amounts donated by individual subscribers, counsel received concerning the legacy left to the Fund, certificates witnessing to the marriage of female servants, etc. At the back of the volume are the quarterly accounts of the Female Bounty Fund, 1778-1834. There is a rough index to the volume, 1 volume.
