T/1638/1/10 Note on the genealogy of Jane Montgomery, no date.

T/1638/3/1-97 Copies of letters to Mrs Catherine McClintock, Derry, 1740-1798. This correspondence includes letters from her cousin, Miss Mary Finlay, who writes from Stockholm and Dublin; her niece and nephew, Miss Catherine and Robert Bateson; her husband, John, 1740-1741; her brother and sister in law, Mr and Mrs David Harvey of London, 1742-1788. The letters relate to family and financial affairs, diet, illness and deaths of family members, including her mother and brother, as well as referring to the republican spirit in the North of Ireland in 1778.

T/1638/5/9 Copy of a letter from Lady Sarah Napier, Celbridge, to Doctor John Ferguson, refering to Lord Fitzwilliam's recall, 20 March 1795. A transcript of this letter is available in the calendar of this collection.

T/1638/6/5 Copy of a letter from Lady Charlemont, Dublin, to Sir Andrew Ferguson at the instance of Lord Charlemont for alterations in the wording of an address to him, 26 February 1791. A transcript of this letter is available in the calendar of this collection.

T/1638/7/1-27 Copies of letters to Sir Robert Ferguson, Member of Parliament for Derry City, including a couple of personal letters to female members of his family, 1816-1858 (with exceptions).

T/1638/15/1-7 Copies of letters to Mrs Barbara Anne Smyly and her husband from her father, John Montgomery, and others, about family affairs and history, 1836, 1902, 1904, 1907 and no date.

T/1638/16/1-11 Copies of letters to John Montgomery Junior while at school from his mother, Mrs Jane Montgomery, 1841 and no date.

T/1638/17/1 Copy of the personal diary of day to day happenings kept by either Hugh or Harvey Montgomery at Benvarden until his death in 1844 and continued thereafter by his mother, Mrs Jane Montgomery, who used the diary to keep a record of her surviving children, January 1843-c.1858.

T/1638/10/1-10 Copies of letters to Colonel William Blacker of Carrick, County Armagh, and his wife, 1799, 1818, 1825, 1830, 1841, 1847 and no date. For example, a letter from Mrs Anna Maria Hall, Johnstown Castle, Wexford, to Colonel Blacker, refers to the County Wexford election and notes 'I hate politics, but somehow my patriotism and my affection for my dearest friends draw me into the vortex - I hope for the last time, for it is not a pleasant aspect of things nor a pleasing view of the Irish character', 15 July 1841. Mrs Anna Maria Hall continues the letter by referring to election mobs attacking women like, Mrs Hickey, wife of the Rector of Wexford, who 'was at first hooted, then her clothes were torn to pieces, and when at last the coachman whipped on the horses, a shower of stones followed, one which whipped her on the head. The poor lady is in a very dangerous state indeed, as they fear the brain is injured; and this occurred in what The Independent terms "the brave little town of Taghmon"'. T/1638/18/1 A volume of typescript copies of letters written mostly by Robert Montgomery while serving in the Crimean War to his mother, Mrs Jane Montgomery, with a few letters addressed to his sister, Mrs Barbara Ann Smyly, 1854-1855. Also included are related letters to Mrs Jane Montgomery from Lady Stratford de Redcliffe, Anne Alexander, Lord Cranworth, Sir Robert Ferguson and Brigagdier-General T Yorke Scarlatt, 1850s.

T/1638/20/1-3 Copies of family letters to Mrs Ellen Newland, wife of Canon Edward Newland, rector of Buncrana, 1867, 1879 and no date.

T/1638/21/1-10 Copies of mainly personal letters to 'Lily' [?Mrs Elizabeth Montgomery], 1902, 1905, 1908, 1922, 1938 and no date. The correspondence includes a copy of a letter from Sir Horace Plunkett, 1908; a copy of a letter from Violet Martin [of Somerville and Ross] mentioning suffragettes and tariff reform, no date and a copy of a letter from Lady O'Neill mentioning the burning of Shane's Castle, County Antrim, 1922.

T/1638, 22/1-5 Copies of letters from John Newland, writing from Runymede and Kansas, to family members, including his aunt and 'Lily' [?Mrs. Montgomery], 1891-1901.

T/1638/25/1-8 Includes a copy of a letter to Thomas Montgomery of Birch Hill, from Lady O'Neill about County Antrim politics, no date.

T/1638/26/1-5 Copies of letters to Hugh Montgomery of Ballydrain, Dunmurry, County Antrim, from his wife, Emily [née Feguson] who writes from a tour she is making of various parts of England, 1855.

T/1638/29/1-11 Copies of letters to Thomas Montgomery of Ballydrain, including letters from his cousin, Mrs Barbara Ann Smyly, and one letter to his wife, Isabella from her brother, J.P. Walker, 1888-1893 and no date.

T/1638/34/1-5 Includes a copy of a French revolutionary 'certificate de residence' for Citizen Marie Joseph Mahe, 1792.

T/1638/14A/1-10 Copies of the diaries of Mrs John Montgomery (n‚e Jane Ferguson) of Benvarden, Bushmills, County Antrim, describing visits to Brussels, Paris and Rome, 1815, 1816, 1818, 1830, 1841, 1843 and a journal of Mrs John Montgomery describing an evening at Garron Tower, County Antrim, with some of the Princes of Orleans, 1859.
