Description

Photostat copies of family papers and letters relating to the Dalway family, Bellahill, Carrickfergus, County Antrim, 1811-1857. The collection includes, for example:
T/1701/14 Copy of a letter from Noah Dalway, Dungeness, Kent from his mother in London congratulating him on the birth of his son and referring to the Reform Bill and the Cholera epidemic, 20 February 1832.

T/1701/16 Copy of a letter from Emily Dalway, widow of Noah Dalway to the Naval Pension Boards applying for pension and asking for addition to be made out of the Admiralty Charitable Fund as a result of her large and young family. A postscript is attached from the Dean of Connor verifying the accuracy of her statement, 4 March 1840.

T/1701/17-18 Copies of 2 long and detailed emigrant letters from Noah Dalway, Melbourne, Australia, to his mother, Bellahill, County Antrim, 10 December 1854 and 23 February 1857. Transcripts of these letters are available in the calendar of this collection.
