Description

Print-outs from microfilm copies of the Ordnance Survey memoirs for Counties, Fermanagh, Londonderry, Tyrone and Antrim, 1832-1840. The collection includes, for example:
T/2383/A/36/3 Copy of a description of the 'Natural Features[,] Social Economy[,] Modern Topography and Ancient Topography of the Parish of Drummual' by James Boyle, which notes that there were 19 female servants in the parish and that the 'Marchioness of Antrim (Rose O'Neill) seems to have taken a great interest in the prosperity of her tenantry and to have exerted herself in their improvement' and that 'the females spun the yarn which the men manufactured into linen.' Mention is also made of women of the cottier class begging during the winter months and marrying young, 'under 17', July 1838. A transcript of this document is included in the calendar of this collection.

T/2383/A/45 Copy of a list of emigrants from the parish of Glynn in County Antrim, which notes the religion and trade of emigrant, 1839.
